Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 12, 2026
1. Ownership and Scope
SplitUp, LLC (“SplitUp,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) owns and operates the SplitUp mobile application (“App”) and thesplitupapp.com website (“Website”). The App and Website are collectively referred to as the “Platform.” SplitUp, LLC is based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
This Privacy Policy describes how SplitUp collects, uses, stores, and protects information obtained through the Platform. By using SplitUp, users consent to the practices described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
SplitUp collects limited information necessary to operate and improve the Platform. The information collected may include the following:
-
Account Information: When users create an account, they may provide a name, email address, and login credentials.
-
Device and Usage Data: The Platform may automatically collect information such as IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, app version, pages viewed, and session duration.
-
Payment Information: All payment processing occurs through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. SplitUp does not collect or store full credit-card or banking information.
-
Guest and Account Identifiers: On iOS, a person who continues as a guest is assigned an anonymous Firebase user ID. No name or email address is required for guest use. SplitUp derives a one-way pseudonymous identifier from this Firebase ID and provides it to Apple as an appAccountToken so purchases and restorations can be associated with the correct SplitUp guest without providing Apple with the raw Firebase ID.
-
App Store Subscription and Transaction Information: Apple processes App Store payments. SplitUp does not receive full credit-card or banking details. SplitUp receives Apple-signed StoreKit transaction records, subscription-status information, and App Store Server Notifications. These may include product ID, current and original transaction IDs, purchase and expiration dates, subscription status, environment, revocation information, appAccountToken, and, when applicable, offer type, offer identifier, and discount type.
-
App Profile and Personalization Information: Users may add preferences or demographic information to a private App profile. SplitUp uses this information to operate and personalize that user’s App experience.
-
Website Contact and Support Requests: The Website forms collect a name, email address, and predefined routing topic. They do not collect free-text case or support descriptions.
-
Voluntary Submissions and Public Features: Users may voluntarily provide survey responses or feedback. Information a user chooses to publish in a future community, comment, or other public feature may be visible to other people and should not include confidential or case-specific facts.
-
Affiliate Tracking: When users follow affiliate or referral links, SplitUp or its affiliate partners may collect anonymized tracking identifiers to confirm referrals and calculate commissions. SplitUp does not share personally identifiable payment data with affiliates.
3. How We Use Information
SplitUp uses the collected data to:
-
Operate and maintain the Platform;
-
Personalize user experience;
-
Process subscriptions and manage user accounts;
-
Communicate updates and respond to inquiries;
-
Analyze usage trends to improve performance; and
-
Comply with legal or regulatory requirements.
SplitUp uses guest identifiers and App Store billing records to verify Premium entitlement, complete and restore purchases, prevent duplicate or unauthorized entitlement claims, investigate fraud and security events, resolve billing and customer-support issues, and satisfy applicable legal, accounting, tax, refund, chargeback, and dispute-record obligations. SplitUp does not use this billing information for advertising or to identify an anonymous guest by name.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
SplitUp processes personal data under the following bases: consent; contractual necessity for subscribed services; legitimate interests in maintaining security and improving performance; and compliance with legal obligations such as record-keeping.
5. Cookies and Analytics
When configured, the Site may use Google Analytics 4 and HubSpot website analytics only after the visitor affirmatively allows optional analytics. Visitors can change this choice through the “Cookie preferences” control in the Site footer. Requested contact, support, and lead-magnet forms are processed server-side as essential services and are not conditioned on browser analytics consent. SplitUp does not sell user data for advertising purposes.
6. Affiliate and Referral Data
SplitUp participates in affiliate programs and may earn commissions when users engage with recommended third-party products or services. Tracking uses anonymized identifiers only and never includes personal financial information. Affiliate partners must comply with privacy and data security obligations consistent with this Policy and applicable laws.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
SplitUp may share limited information only as necessary with:
-
Trusted service providers supporting analytics, hosting, and functionality;
-
Affiliate partners for referral verification;
-
Law enforcement or regulators when legally required; and
-
Successor entities in the event of a merger or acquisition, subject to equivalent protections.
SplitUp does not sell, rent, or trade personal data for profit.
Apple processes App Store transactions and provides StoreKit transaction and subscription information. Google Firebase provides anonymous authentication, cloud functions, and server-side application storage. SplitUp provides these services only with information needed to perform their functions and requires applicable contractual and privacy protections that are the same as or equivalent to the protections described in this Policy. These providers may not use SplitUp user information for unrelated advertising purposes.
8. Data Retention
SplitUp retains information only as long as necessary to fulfill service obligations or legal requirements. Data that is no longer required will be securely deleted or anonymized.
When Delete Guest Data succeeds, SplitUp deletes the guest's Firebase authentication identity and active user data, including profile, personalization, saved-content, progress, and active entitlement records. SplitUp retains limited pseudonymized Apple billing lineage when necessary to prevent entitlement reuse or fraud, support refunds and billing disputes, and satisfy legal, tax, or accounting obligations. These retained records are detached from the active Firebase identity and linked to a one-way deleted-user value. They may include transaction, product, subscription-status, expiration, and offer information, but do not include a guest name or email address. SplitUp deletes or further anonymizes these records when they are no longer reasonably necessary for those purposes.
9. Security Measures
SplitUp employs encryption, firewalls, secure servers, password protection, and limited employee access to safeguard personal data. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure, and users transmit data at their own risk.
10. User Rights and Deletion Requests
Users may request access to their personal data, request corrections or deletions, withdraw consent, or opt out of analytics tracking by contacting support@thesplitupapp.com. SplitUp may verify identity before fulfilling requests and may retain limited data as required for compliance or dispute resolution.
iOS guests can request deletion inside the App by selecting Profile > App Settings > Delete Guest Data. Registered users can use the corresponding Delete Account control. Deleting SplitUp data does not cancel an App Store subscription or stop renewal by Apple. Subscription cancellation is a separate action available through Apple ID Settings > Subscriptions. A user may delete SplitUp data without first cancelling a subscription.
11. Children’s Privacy
SplitUp is designed for adults aged eighteen and older. It does not knowingly collect information from minors. Parents or guardians who believe a minor has submitted information should contact SplitUp immediately to request deletion.
12. International Data Transfers
SplitUp operates in the United States. By using the Platform, users outside the U.S. consent to the transfer and processing of their information in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from their jurisdiction.
13. Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. SplitUp is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of those third parties. Users are encouraged to review external privacy policies before interacting with such services.
14. Accessibility
SplitUp strives to maintain accessibility consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Users who encounter accessibility barriers should contact launi.sheldon@thesplitupapp.com for assistance.
15. Updates to This Policy
SplitUp may revise this Policy periodically. The “Effective Date” at the top of this document reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Arizona. All disputes must first be submitted to mediation in Maricopa County, Arizona. If mediation fails, disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration before a single arbitrator under the American Arbitration Association rules in Maricopa County, Arizona.
