Community Guidelines

Effective Date: October 13, 2025

1. Purpose

The SplitUp community is designed to provide a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where users can share experiences, ask questions, and find understanding during the challenges of divorce, separation, and family transitions.

These Community Guidelines outline expectations for participation and help ensure everyone feels welcome.

2. Our Core Principles

All community spaces — including posts, comments, and discussions — should reflect the following principles:

  • Respect: Treat every member with kindness, empathy, and dignity.

  • Confidentiality: Protect your privacy and the privacy of others. Do not share personal details, legal case information, or third-party contact data.

  • Support, Not Judgment: Encourage constructive conversation and emotional support.

  • Safety: Immediately report any content or behavior that seems harmful or threatening.

3. What’s Not Allowed

To keep SplitUp safe and constructive, the following actions are prohibited:

  • Harassment or Hate Speech: Any language or behavior that discriminates, bullies, or threatens others.

  • Violence or Abuse: Content promoting or glorifying violence, self-harm, or abuse.

  • Explicit or Inappropriate Content: No sexual, graphic, or obscene materials.

  • Misinformation: Do not post false or misleading legal or psychological advice.

  • Advertising or Spam: No self-promotion, commercial posts, or solicitation.

  • Impersonation: Do not pretend to be someone else, including professionals or SplitUp staff.

  • Unauthorized Legal Advice: SplitUp does not provide legal representation. Users may not offer legal services or claim to act as an attorney.

4. Posting & Commenting Guidelines

  • Keep posts on topic and relevant to divorce, co-parenting, and personal wellbeing.

  • Be mindful of triggering content — use content warnings when discussing sensitive topics (e.g., domestic violence).

  • Use language that uplifts and supports, not language that shames or blames.

  • Limit sharing of third-party materials unless they come from reliable sources.

  • Avoid posting personal contact information or private communications.

5. Moderation & Enforcement

SplitUp reserves the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.

Our moderation approach focuses on education and safety, not punishment.

Violations may result in:

  1. A written warning

  2. Temporary suspension

  3. Permanent account removal (for repeated or severe violations)

We may also report unlawful activity to appropriate authorities when required by law.

6. Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines or makes you feel unsafe:

Please include a brief description and, if possible, a screenshot of the issue.

Reports are reviewed promptly and confidentially.

7. Disclaimer

SplitUp is an educational and supportive platform.

Community content is user-generated and does not represent professional legal or psychological advice.

Users participate at their own discretion and are responsible for the information they share.

8. Updates to These Guidelines

SplitUp may update these Community Guidelines periodically to reflect evolving community needs or compliance requirements.

When changes are made, we will update the “Last Updated” date above.

9. Thank You

Thank you for helping make SplitUp a supportive, compassionate, and empowering community.

Together, we can create a safe space for healing, learning, and growth.
